Letter From Joe Banister

Dear Friends:

I just wanted to alert those in the San Francisco Bay Area that Hollywood Producer Aaron Russo, who has received acclaim and awards including a Grammy, a Tony, and an Emmy and whose films have been nominated for six Academy Awards and seven Golden Globes, is bringing his masterpiece film, "America: From Freedom To Fascism", to the Bay Area for two pre-screenings, one in San Jose on April 7, 2006 and one in San Francisco on April 8, 2006.

I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Russo's film in a private screening a few days ago and, despite the fact that I am familiar with much of the subject matter of the film, I was literally on the edge of my seat from beginning to end - I know you will be too.

Mr. Russo plans a nationwide commercial release of the film this summer but in early April Bay Area residents will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience one of the most provocative films you will see in your lifetime, at no charge.

Our plan is to have a San Jose screening at 6:00 pm and another at 8:00 pm at San Jose City Hall. San Jose City Hall is located at 200 East Santa Clara Street (between 4th and 6th Streets), San Jose, California. The screening will take place in the "West Wing" of the complex. See pictures of the facility here.

See a map of parking facilities here.

Seating for the San Jose screening is very limited - there are only about 115 seats for the 6:00 pm screening and 115 seats for the 8:00 showing. Come early to claim your seat. Once the seats are taken, we have no choice but to close the doors and you will go away disappointed.

The film is about 1 hour and 45 minutes long and we will begin promptly at 6:00 pm and again at 8:00 pm. We must vacate the facility by 10:00 pm sharp so we will follow a tight schedule. It is important that those who are seated not be distracted by commotion at the door - the film requires the viewer's complete attention from the very start - so we will be very strict about getting people seated and starting promptly at the designated times. If you think you will have trouble getting to downtown San Jose by 5:45, plan on coming to the 8:00 pm screening - but be aware that this is a first come, first served event and demand may exceed seats available - if you are going to make the effort to attend, then COME EARLY. If you can't come early, perhaps you should consider attending the San Francisco screening where upwards of 500 seats are available (details below).

Working together, we can make sure the San Jose screening goes very smoothly. I look forward to seeing you there.

I am not involved in the coordination of the San Francisco screening, although I plan to try to attend the San Francisco event nonetheless. The screening will be held at the Victoria Theater located at 2961 16th Street, San Francisco, California 94103. The phone number for the Victoria Theater is (415) 863-7576. The theater seats 500 and I believe, BUT HAVE NOT CONFIRMED, that there is no need for a reservation. Additional information is available at www.givemeliberty.org and www.freedomtofascism.com.
